Being Rich and Famous

I realize you are reading this months from now, and the places I'm listing will be largely dead. They effect the current story so I'm adding some addresses.

I got paid recently by my publisher, well the guy running the on-line system, for sales of my books. I got lousy returns in cash.

Keep in mind that I did not expect work to make writers much money.

Why?

About 98 percent of readers do not buy books that aren't in traditional paper. The sales on the books electronically is just terrible and I suspect it will be a decade before writers make a buck.

And that's more than a decade. The old folks like me are into paper. We have and will have at least 50 percent of that kind of purchase.

Okay, I'm probably wrong about how long the on-line products will jump up. That'll be great news to writers because most of us get between 60 to 30 percent of each sale. That's a huge change compared what we get now.

We are lucky to get 15 percent for the stuff in paper.

Anyway, I receive a lousy sales rate because of the, well, incredible places doing the sales.
